Dragon Age Origins: Old Gods are a Lie by Berserker79 Dragon Age Origins: Old Gods are a Lie by Berserker79
As the city of Denerim burns around him, Riordan bravely faces the Archdemon in an attempt to end the Blight...

"Screaming all his hate to the hideous creature that is hate incarnated, the Warden thrust his blade into the Archdemon's thick hide, spilling the monster's blood...".

For :iconolivegbg: who is a huge Riordan fan (hope you'll like it)! :)

Ooooh this is fantastic and epic and a lot of other things that should be written in capital letters. One of the best moments in the game. Wonderful and dynamic. I agree with Olive though, more blood! :stab: My poor Riordan... :tears:

Thank you very much! :) Too bad the Archdemon had the upper hand, but the overall scene is really soooo epic and it was also fun to picture!

lol, since you all agree on the matter of the blood, I might have a bloodier version done one day, but I'm too lazy to go back to it now...

That's for sure! :) I loved that cutscene in spite of the very sad ending... Actually, before seeing how it would end I was thinking something along the lines of: "Well, not bad if Riordan actually puts the beast down for good... I'll just let my Warden quietly leave with Leliana and call it a happy ending!". Well, no luck in the end... all I got was my "Ultimate Sacrifice" achievement and that's it!

Riordan was sooo badass in this moment, and then he died :(, along with my hopes, damnit.
Eh, at least you didn't bring an Old God back into the world, right? :)

Thank you so much! :) The basis is all XNALara/XPS work posing the models, setting up the lights and playing with the post processing parameters within the program. Then I've tweaked the resulting picture in Paint.NET to smooth out rough edges, increase/tweak saturation, glow, contrast... Add to the mix a lot of trial and error and some luck and that's it! ;)

Riordan gets real few on-screen time in DAO, but that few is truly awesome, especially his take on the Archdemon. Granted, it's a damn sad scene, but I always appreciated how he bravely goes on to face the frigging Archdemon entirely on his own... you said it, that was epic indeed! :)

And of course, I'm really happy you like this one! :happybounce:

:phew: After I uploaded I got worried you might be unhappy with the specific scene depicted, so it's a real relief to read you like it!

Too bad the Wardens' motto isn't "One for all, all for one!" here... I understand he felt the call from the Archdemon, but Riordan could have really used some help here:(

Sniff, I prefer the thought that he landed in a haystack (or a pile of Darkspawn corpses) :( It was an epic scene. Didn't even like the guy much in my first playthrough but when I saw this everything was forgiven. :D One complaint, much more Archdemon blood...eh please...

Really wish there was a haystack waiting for him... I guess a pile of dead Darkspawn wouldn't be much good for Riordan's health with all those spiky things on their armors! ;)

Oh, and believe me, the "reduced" amount of blood gushing from the Archdemon's wound was mostly an attempt to keep gory details low and see whether I could avoid a mature tag and not meant to detract from Riordan's fighting prowess! :D

Hm, forgot about the spikes. Well Riordan is tough, I'm sure he could take a few punctures.
